AAP candidates face disgruntled cadre

Some of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidates, who contested the last Assembly polls and now got renominated on party tickets, are facing dissent from their own party cadre.

This, despite going through the grind of the rigid selection process, which involved constituency-level feedback.

The party workers in Palam on Friday staged a protest against their local party candidate Bhawna Gaur claiming that she was not their popular choice. Former labour minister and Madipur candidate Girish Soni, having courted controversy for allegedly overstaying in a flat, may face similar opposition.  The AAP had repeated the line-up for the December 2013 Assembly polls while declaring nominees for 22 seats on Thursday.

“The party never asked for our feedback. We didn’t get a call for single call or SMS,” a party volunteer, Tarun Gupta, said, alleging that a section of volunteers had raised objection to her candidature last year as well. “Party volunteers get bulk SMS plans. It is given out so that we can hold meetings at a short notice.”
