Afghanistan, India to strengthen bilateral ties

The India-Afghanistan partnership council will comprise separate groups on political consultation, capacity development, education, power , water, culture, trade and industry, and health and agriculture.

External Affairs Minister S M Krishna and visiting Afghan Foreign Minister Rangin Dadfar Spanta decided to set up the council during a meeting in New Delhi. “This (the council) will harness greater institutional support for the implementation of the ongoing programmes and enlarge development cooperation between the two countries,” a joint Indo-Afghan statement issued on Tuesday said.
