The pilgrimage town of Nashik received heavy downpour over Monday and Tuesday resulting in water gushing in low lying areas including the Panchvati-Ramkund area.
According to reports reaching here, the catchment area of Gangapur dam received good rainfall and water was flowing into the Godavari river in the Nashik district of North Maharashtra.
In the area, there are over 100 small and big temples and several temples were fully or partially submerged. There is also a huge statue of Hanuman which too was partially under water.
The neighbouring tehsils of Nashik town too received heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, rains continue to lash Kolhapur city and district, the eighth day in a row.
The Satara district too is receiving heavy rainfall since the last three days.
Because of the rains in these two Western-Maharashtra districts, the Krishna and Panchganga rivers swelled inundating several places.
The Koyna catchment area too received heavy rainfall and all gates of the dam were opened.
The Kolhapur-Goa road traffic was also affected. More than 100 villages in the Kolhapur district have been isolated because water was flowing over the roads and highways and more than 60-odd Kolhapur-type weirs (KT weirs) are brimming.
The Gadchiroli district too received heavy rainfall. The Bhamragad-Alapalli road traffic was affected because of the downpour.
