A special team of doctors, including a neurologist from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Saturday examined DMK president M Karunanidhi’s wife Dayalu Ammal to ascertain whether she was medically fit to appear as a witness before a Special CBI court in the 2G scam case.
The medical checkup of Dayalu Ammal is a consequence of the Supreme Court’s order to the AIIMS director to set up a medical team to conduct a thorough check.
The team, headed by Dr A B A Dey, comprising Dr Nandakumar, Dr Parameshwar Kumar and neurologist Dr Manjari Tripathy, arrived from Delhi in the morning. The medical examination of Dayalu Ammal commenced at 11 am and ended around 2 pm, police sources said.
