Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav said the “political training” given to him byhis father Mulayam Singh Yadav proved a great help in defeating his opponents during the family feud.

“The path in politics is not straight...it is zigzag...Netaji (Mulayam) sent me into politics...gave me training,” Akhilesh said, while addressing an election rally at Aurayia, about 250 km from here, on Saturday.

“There was a conspiracy against me....I was able to put my opponents on the mat,” he said, apparently referring to his uncle and former party state unit president Shivpal Singh Yadav.

Akhilesh said he was once apprehensive that he would lose the ‘cycle’ (SP’s election symbol). “Only I know how I withstood all that,” the chief minister remarked. Akhilesh reiterated that he had the blessings of Mulayam.

‘Shah is SCAM for us’

Akhilesh hit back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for  referring to him, his party, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi and BSP’s Mayawati as ‘SCAM’ and said that for him ‘SCAM’ meant BJP national president Amit Shah.

“For Modi we are SCAM...for us SCAM means Amit Shah”, he quipped.
“He (Modi) had said that he would give Rs 15 lakh to the poor....he should at least have given them Rs 15,000,” Akhilesh said.

The chief minister accused the BJP of not fulfilling any of the promises it had made during the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
