“Classical musicians are not very happy about Rabindra Sangeet, because Tagore took liberties. But only a genius like him can take liberty.

There is always something new and something secret in his creations,” Khan said here at an award function that celebrated the 150th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore.

Khan was here to receive a “Lifetime Achievement Award” in music. In a tribute to Tagore, the sponsors honoured Nobel laureate and economist Amartya Sen, Sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and painter Jogen Chowdhury, at a programme which was in association with Union ministry of culture to mark Tagore’s birth birthday.
