The bus accident that took place in Ananthapur on Friday killed seven people.

Seven persons including two women lost their lives when the mini-bus they were travelling hit a container truck coming in the opposite direction in Anantapur district on Friday morning. Nine injured people were shifted to a government hospital.

According to Tanakallu police, the accident occurred near Parakuvandla Palli crossroad on National Highway 42, under Tanakallu and Nallcheru blocks of Anantapur district. The mini-bus was coming from Kukkanti crossroad and was going towards Kadiri. According to eyewitnesses, the bus driver who was speeding hit the heavy truck coming from the opposite direction.

The bus driver immediately jumped out of the bus and ran away. Police were looking for him. Local people and the police struggled to remove the bodies from the mangled bus. Gas cutters were used to save the injured who were crying for help. Tanakallu police have booked a case and are investigating.
