The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Thursday directed the state government to appoint a fresh police chief in the state in place of V Dinesh Reddy.
The court dismissed a petition by the state government challenging an order of the Central Administrative Tribunal, which had also dismissed Reddy from the post of DGP.
A Division Bench comprising Justice Goda Raghuram and Justice M S Ramachandra Rao said the writ petition was filed on “specious, artificial and extravagant grounds” and dismissed it with a cost of Rs 5,000. V Dinesh Reddy will continue only as DGP-in-charge only for the next two weeks.
