BSP supremo Mayawati on Wednesday expelled party general secretary and her one-time close confidante Indrajeet Saroj from the party on charges of ''anti-party activities''.

Saroj, who was a minister in the Mayawati cabinet during 2007-2012, however, alleged that he had been expelled for not being able to pay money to the BSP supremo.

''My failure to pay the money led to my expulsion,'' Saroj alleged.

Earlier Mayawati had expelled senior party leader and former minister Naseemuddin Siddique on similar charges. Siddique had also alleged that he was shown the door after he failed to pay money to the BSP supremo.
