Continuing his tirade against the Congress Working Committee decision to divide Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy once again urged the party high command to reconsider its decision in the light of 60-day-old Samaikhyandhra agitation in 13 districts of the state.
Addressing a press conference at his camp office here on Friday, the chief minister explained the troubles in store for the people of all the three regions if divided.
“Whenever state-in-charge Digvijay Singh reminds me that I should act like a chief minister for all the three regions, my determination becomes fourfold to fight for Samaikhyandhra,” he added, answering a question on his obstinate stand for a united Andhra while the party is determined to carve out Telangana.

“I hope that the day wouldn’t come when I have to decide between my party and unity of the state, it’s a painful issue for me, as a chief minister I could only raise issues that requires answers. We are answerable to our future generations,” Reddy said.
“Digvijay Singh will not be (Congress) general secretary for ever, (but) state is permanent,” he said in a direct retribution to Digvijay’s comments on his stand.
Urging the APNGOs to put a stop to the agitation and return to work, the chief minister said that school children and the common man has been put to trouble because of the agitation. “You can imagine the impact of the agitation as only Rs 300 crore has been withdrawn as August month salary, in place of Rs 1,300 crore.”
The chief minister also sought assurance from the Union government on smoothly settling various issues such as sharing of power, irrigation, water and employment before taking a decision on division.
“I have not seen any response from the central government even after 60 days of Seemandhra agitation,” Kiran said. However, he rubbished reports that he has plans to launch a new party, saying that he became a chief minister only with the blessings of Sonia Gandhi and has no wish to quit.
