The Indian Army will build a new foot-over bridge (FoB) at the Elphinstone Road station. This was announced after Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman inspected the Elphinstone Road station on Tuesday.

On 29 September, a stampede on the FoB connecting the Elphinstone Road and Parel stations on the Western Railway and Central Railway, respectively, claimed lives of 23 people.

"The army will build FoBs at Elphinstone Road, Currey Road and Amboli stations," Fadnavis said.

The work will be done on a war footing and will be completed by 31 January next year, he said.
