Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on September 25 alleged that Popular Front of India (PFI) was involved in the anti-encroachment in Sipajhar, Darrang. CM Sarma said that a large number of people clashed with the police though only 60 families were supposed to be evicted. “Prior to the day of incident, PFI visited the site in the name of carrying food items to evicted families. Eviction was done against 60 families. Where from these 10,000 families have come? Various evidences are now emerging, implicating certain people,” he said.
