Several Pakistan-based news channels, celebrity and influencer accounts were made unavailable for Indian users amidst tension between the two countries, which intensified after the Pahalgam attack that killed 26 innocent lives earlier this year.

Government sources told to News18 that a majority of accounts continue to be banned, pointing out that some of the total 14,000 accounts did not make anti India remarks for a while and thus reinstated.

"Following a periodic review, it has been observed that some of these platforms which have been reinstated have not spoken anti India language for a while, which was the main reason for blocking them," the news media quoted the officials.

However, after the massive outrage on social media, the Indian government has reportedly blocked those accounts that had briefly regained visibility in India.
