Federation president K N Subba Reddy said the associations would meet either on Monday or Tuesday to discuss the issue.
“Instead of urging the chief justice not to preside over a bench, we would decide to boycott his bench,’’ he said.
Chief Justice of India (CJI) K G Balakrishnan has sought a report from the Tamil Nadu government on the land holdings of Justice Dinakaran.
Supreme Court sources said the CJI had asked the State administration to furnish the details of land — including illegal occupation of public land, if any — owned by Justice Dinakaran and his family.
Reddy said a delegation was to present a memorandum in this regard to the CJI who was to visit Mysore last Saturday. Justice Balakrishnan was to be conferred with a doctorate degree that day. His visit was later cancelled.
“We had decided to submit a memorandum to the CJI, urging him to take a decision in view of the present controversy. But the visit was cancelled. We have sought time from his office in New Delhi to meet him to present the memorandum,’’ he said.
Reddy clarified that the earlier resolution of September 17 was not binding on Justice Dinakaran, but a decision to boycott the bench would be binding on the members of the bar.
