Another confirmed case of bird flu detected in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha district has triggered further panic among the people of the state.
Official sources said, 40 samples of dead poultry birds from Bahanada area under Betanati block of the tribal dominated district, were sent to Bhopal laboratory for testing; one was tested positive. The Mayurbhanj district administration convened an emergency meeting of senior officials as soon as the bird flu confirmation report reached Baripada on Saturday evening. The meeting decided to launch an awareness campaign immediately in villages within a radius of three km of Bahanada, thus declaring it to be a hyper sensitive area.
