Rajya Sabha member Prabhakar Kore has been re-nominated by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the lone seat it is contesting from Karnataka in the June 19 elections to fill vacant seats in the Upper House of Parliament.

Kore, who is into education business, is scheduled to file his nomination papers at 11.45 am in Vidhana Soudha on Saturday. He is from Belgaum.

The BJP had planned to field either Union Minister of State for Commerce Nirmala Sitaraman or Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar from Karnataka. But the plans did not materialise with  state BJP leaders batting for Kore’s candidature.

The party has also decided to field former state deputy chief minister K S Eshwarappa in the elections to the Legislative Council from Assembly constituency, also on June 19.
