Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday fired fresh salvos at the Centre questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence over the Lalitgate and Vyapam controversies even as the Congress accused the BJP of indulging in politics of revenge by raising scams in opposition-ruled states.
The Congress leader sought to remind PM Modi of his assertions of giving a corruption-free government in the run up to the Lok Sabha election last year.
At the same time, he said the Congress would continue to disrupt proceedings in the Parliament till the leaders embroiled in the controversies–Sushma Swaraj, Vasundhara Raje and Shivraj Singh Chouhan–are removed from their posts.
While Swaraj is the external affairs minister of the NDA government, Raje and Chouhan are the chief ministers of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, respectively. No discussion without resignation, Gandhi said, making his party’s intent clear.
However, Gandhi’s attempts to reach out to the opposition to build a grand coalition against the government appeared to have come a cropper.
