The BJP Sunday decided to send senior party leaders Rajnath Singh to Maharashtra and Venkaiah Naidu to Haryana to take a decision on the chief ministerial candidates in the two states.

Briefing reporters after the BJP's parliamentary board meeting, party general secretary J.P. Nadda said he and Singh would be visting Maharashtra to select the leadership and form a government.

Asked what was the party's reaction to offer of support from Sharad Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Nadda said they are aware of their support but no call has been taken yet.

"The parliamentary board knew about their offer of support but as far as government formation is considered, we will first select our leadership," he said.

He further said Naidu and another party leader Dinesh Sharma would go to Haryana to take forward the process of government formation.

"We will first select who would head the government and then preparation will be made for the swearing-in ceremony," he said.
