Union minister Salman Khurshid was shown black flags today by BJP youth wing workers, who were protesting over a remark made by him against Narendra Modi.

BJP Yuva Morcha activists waved black flags, shouted slogans and held a demonstration while Khurshid was on way to attend a function at Zakir Hussain Trust office in Mau Darwaza area here and were cane-charged by the police.

The protesters alleged that they were assaulted by the security personnel escorting the External Affairs minister.

BJP's city president Gyanendra Chand Gaur later gave a complaint in Kotwali Police Station alleging that Khurshid asked his guards to beat up the protesters.

He claimed that several workers, including Morcha's district president Ajit Mahajan and media in-charge Dilip Bharadwaj were beaten and injured by Khurshid's security.

Gaur demanded that a case be registered against Khurshid and he be arrested.

Earlier, police had to resort to cane-charge to control the protesters and also took three activist into custody.

On February 26, without taking the name of Modi, Khurshid, who is a sitting MP from Farrukhabad, described him as "impotent" and asked why a man who aspires to be the prime minister of the country could not do anything during the 2002 riots. The remark invited a sharp condemnation from the BJP.
