CPI leader A B Bardhan on Saturday said the investigating agencies probing the Hyderabad blast should not fall prey to pre-conceived ideas and should not jump to conclusion without thorough investigation.

Addressing the media in Bangalore, he said many innocent persons arrested on terrorism charges languish in prisons for a long time and rarely see justice being done unless strong intervention of the High Courts or the Supreme Court.
“Such things should not happen,” he said.

Answering a question, Bardhan said the Left is positive about National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), but warned that it should not become a weapon of state-sponsored terrorism.

"It should be an organisation which takes clues into account, reaches a conclusion and only then identifies those who are guilty. The NCTC should prevent terrorism and not post-mortem exercises," he said.

Referring to former telecom minister A Raja’s reported remark that truth in the 2G scam has been suppressed, the CPI leader said the CAG has already recorded the evidence and that can’t be glossed over. The investigative agencies have sufficient reasons for prosecuting people who are guilty, he said.
