'Bored' Kasab wants to read story books

“I am fed up and bored, I need books to read,” Kasab, who is charged with killing and conspiring to kill 164 innocent citisens in Mumbai and destroying many families forever, told the special court on Wednesday.

During the proceedings, Kasab had asked for permission to speak to his lawyer Abbas Kazmi, which the judge M L Tahilyani granted. Later, he inquired with the lawyer what was the matter. Kazmi then informed the court that Kasab had told him that he was bored and needed books to read. Kasab then stood up in his dock and requested the court that he be provided with books from with his money seized by the police at the time of his capture. The court told him that this would not be possible because the money had now become the property of the court. Kasab had Rs 4,580 in his pockets when he was captured at Girgaum Chowpatti.
