“The attack on Aarushi's father Rajesh Talwar would not have happened had the Chandigarh administration taken effective action against the perpetrator after he attacked former Haryana DGP SPS Rathore on February 8 last year,”a BSP spokesman said in a statement.

The party pointed out that the Union Home Ministry was responsible for law and order in Chandigarh. About the incident in which an additional district collector was burnt alive in Maharashtra, the BSP said it was  a clear sign of collapse of law and order in the Congress-ruled state. In its statement, the BSP said Congress leaders ignored such incidents in states ruled by their own party.
