Two students died and 48 others sustained when a luxury bus carrying a coaching school's students overturned near Khopoli on the old Mumbai-Pune Highway in the Raigad district of Maharashtra on Sunday night.
According to the Raigad police, the accident took place at around 8 pm.
The bus was travelling from the hill station of Lonavala in Pune to Chembur in Mumbai.
The bus had 50 people on board - 48 students of Class 10, all between the age group of 15-17, and two teachers.
The bus overturned near the Magic Point of the Ghats - when they were returning from a picnic in an amusement park.
“The injured students were rushed to nearby hospitals, however, unfortunately two students, a girl and a boy, died,” Raigad Superintendent of Police Somnath Gharge said.
