Central Bureau of Investigation officials on Wednesday arrested a Delhi Police head constable for accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.

The constable was posted at Kashmiri Gate police station and has been sent to four days’ judicial custody.

According to a CBI official, the policeman Devendra Tomar had been demanding Rs 10,000 as bribe from a person who subsequently complained about it to the CBI’s Vigilance Department.

After the complaint, Tomar’s phone was put on surveillance and then the complainant was asked to agree to pay the head constable the desired amount.

On Wednesday, when the complainant was giving the money to Tomar, he was nabbed by the CBI officials red-handed.

The head constable has been suspended.

“Following the raid conducted by CBI officials and a recovery of Rs 10,000 bribe, the head constable was suspended and further investigation was ordered”, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Madhur Verma.
