Congress president Rahul Gandhi claimed that the CBI director Alok Verma has been removed because he was raising questions on the Rafale fighter jet deal.

Rahul, who was campaigning in the poll-bound Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi for sending CBI director on leave because the investigating agency was raising questions on Rafale.

Without naming Modi, he said, "Desh ke Chowkidar ne kal raat ko CBI director ko kal raat hataya, kyunki wo Rafale mamle mei sarkar se sawaal pooch rahe the (CBI director was sent on leave last night by the 'chowkidaar' because the investigating agency was raising questions on Rafale".

He further said that, "The country and the Constitution are under threat".

After targeting the Modi government of Rafale scam, Rahul who was addressing a rally in Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje's turf also accused Raje and her son Dushyant Singh of being thick with Lalit Modi.

"Lalit Modi is sitting in London but he gave crores of rupees to the son of your chief minister", he claimed.

In a satirical comment the Congress president said that when the prime minister sought votes, he would say, "I want to become Chowkidar of this country not prime minister. But now Chowkidar is committing theft".

Rahul continued to hurl stinging barbs at the prime minister, over the farmer issue.

"PM did not waive off a single rupee of farmers, but he wrote off bad debt worth Rs. 3.5 lakh crore of top 15 businessmen of the country. But a farmer who is unable to repay the loan is called a defaulter. Why this difference between a poor farmer and a big businessmen?", he questioned the ruling BJP and called its schemes anti-farmer.

Mehul Choksi deposited money in the bank account of Arun Jaitley’s daughter.

He also attacked Finance Minister Arun Jaitley for helping 'defaulters' like Vijay Mallaya and Mehul Choksi.

"Vijay Mallya left the country after meeting Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in Parliament. Similarly Choksi deposited money in the ICICI bank account of Arun Jaitley’s daughter", the Congress president claimed.

After the rally, Rahul went ahead with a roadshow from Jhalawar to Kota on Wednesday.

On Thursday, he is expected to address a rally in Sikar (the heart of Shekhawati belt) of Rajasthan.

Rajasthan will go to polls on December 7 and results will be declared on December 11.
