“On receipt of a complaint, a preliminary inquiry was conducted. It was found that prima-facie there have been irregularities in the issue of No Objection Certificates which may have wider implications,” Defence Minister A K Antony said on Wednesday.
In a written reply, Antony said: “In order to get the matter thoroughly investigated and fix responsibility, the government has entrusted the inquiry to the CBI.”
Earlier, during the preliminary inquiry it had been found that during the last four years more than 70 NOCs had been issued by the defence estates department in Srinagar.
