The Union home ministry teams will visit 24 districts, including Bengaluru and Uttara Kannada, to address their grievances related to grant of Long Term Visa (LTV) and Indian citizenship to minority communities from neighbouring countries.
This was decided at a meeting convened on Tuesday by the ministry with 75 representatives from 15 associations especially of minority communities from neighbouring countries. The meeting discussed the problems being faced by minority communities from neighbouring countries.
An official statement said teams of ministry officials will visit 24 identified districts for citizenship in eight states and 14 districts for LTV cases of these applicants. The visiting officials will hold camps during the next two months and assist the applicants in the settlement of Citizenship/LTV cases.
The 24 districts having citizenship issue include Indore and Bhopal, Nagpur, Thane, Mumbai city, Pune, Amravati and Jalgaon and Ahmedabad, Surat, Kutch, Rajkot, Patan, Banskantha and Gandhi Nagar besides Bengaluru and Uttara Kannada.
