The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has submitted its agenda for education sector to Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Smriti Irani who said her ministry will examine the details before taking action.

Giving a patient hearing to Sangh leaders and representatives of its Shiksha Samooh (education wing) on Thursday, the minister asked them to prepare their proposals for key changes in the current education system and policy in detail and submit the same to her.

Sangh leaders pitched for revision of curriculum in subjects like History and Sociology.

They were of the view that the history taught in schools and colleges at present does not adequately highlight the contribution of many leaders, and tends to focus on a select few of them.

Putting special emphasis on the need for value education in schools and colleges, the representatives suggested that curriculum be redesigned to teach students more about Indian values and culture.

They were of the view that the current education system, which is mostly “west-oriented”, should be revamped.
