Elections in Chhattisgarh came to end on Tuesday, where polling was held for 72 seats and the fate of candidates was sealed by 1,54,596 electors.
Votes were registered by people across the state, though technical snags were reported in many areas.
This election is crucial for both the Congress and BJP, as it would lay the foundation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
BJP is seeking a fourth term, while the Congress is trying to return to power after 15 years.
The elections will also determine the future of former chief minister Ajit Jogi, who has formed the regional outfit JCC(J) and has entered into an alliance with the BSP.
For these 72 seats, the BJP has fielded 24 new faces dropping 14 sitting MLAs, while the Congress fielded 39 new faces dropping 5 MLAs.
It is the first time in history of the state that an incumbent prime minister has held as many public meeting. Multiple meetings have also been held by BJP national president Amit Shah and Union ministers.
Against the Union ministers, the Congress had used former Union ministers and Congress chief Rahul Gandhi for its campaign.
JCC(J) did not lag behind, with BSP chief Mayawati leading the campaign and Jogi holding many public meetings.
The key issues that were brought up during the campaigns were regarding support price of paddy, loan waiver and unemployment, among others.
