Chandrababu performs 'bhoomi puja' for AP capital

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday performed Bhoomi Puja for the construction of a new capital Amaravati at Mandadam village of Tullur mandal in Guntur district.

Setting aside all apprehensions about the timing of the event, Naidu accompanied by his wife Bhubaneswar, son Lokesh, performed several rituals marking the ground breaking exactly at 8:49 am at the designated site.

Union Ministers Nirmala Sitaraman and Sujana Choudhury, state cabinet ministers, DGP J Ramudu, TDP party leaders and a large number of villagers that have pooled their land participated in the ceremony which lasted for about two hours.
