Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday thanked the Supreme Court for ordering a CBI probe into the Vyapam scam, which has left a serious impact on the nation’s public life.

Chouhan, who returned to Bhopal from New Delhi on Thursday after meeting the family of Akshay Singh, a journalist who died while reporting on the recruitment scam, said the decision will clear the air about the mysterious deaths related to the case.

"I am grateful. Whatever I have heard about the Supreme Court order, it said ‘we appreciate the stand taken by the Attorney General on behalf of the state government and accept the request (for a CBI probe)’. I am very thankful to the apex court," the CM, who promised an unbiased probe into Singh’s death and offered a job and financial help to the family, told reporters.
Chouhan said the probe has been a trial by fire for him. He said there would have been no probe had he wished so but he wanted the anomalies to be detected and fixed.
