The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Saturday announced that its women personnel would be given special training to tackle male troublemakers.
Addressing a press conference, CISF Director-General Arvind Ranjan said they are starting to specially train women personnel so that they are equipped to deal with a situation where they have to use force. “I am happy to announce the initiative on International Women’s Day. We are engaging trainers of international repute. We are giving them three-month training. Our aim is to make one or two women tackle 10 men,” he said.
Announcing its upcoming projects, he said a CISF wing will take up the security issues of seven institutions, including the Bangalore-based facility of the ambitious GPS-aided Geo Augmented Navigation system project. The fire wing would take over four projects.
Currently, the CISF provides security to six private institutions, including Infosys campuses in Bangalore, Mysore, Pune and Electronic City in Karnataka’s capital.
Additionally, around 30 new civil airports will soon come under the CISF security wing.
Ranjan, who previously headed the National Security Guards (NSG), said the Paradip port in Odisha had been brought under a marine commando unit of the force. A commando-trained squad of 30 CISF personnel have begun patrolling the offshore seawaters in the facility’s proximity.
Speaking about the Delhi Metro, he said, “We have a polite request for Metro commuters. We want them secure and if commuters too want free and safe travel without any difficulty, they should keep sometime for security checks,” Ranjan said.
