The inquiry commission led by retired Justice Arumughaswamy, who assumed charge on Friday, is expected to start his investigation into the death of former chief minister Jayalalithaa from her Poes Garden residence on Monday.

Arumughaswamy will be going to Jayalalithaa's house in the city to gather details about what happened on the night of 22 September 2016, when the then chief minister was moved to Apollo Hospital.

He will interrogate all those who were present in the house that night. However, it is not clear if the commission will interrogate the jailed V K Sasikala, who was present with Jayalalithaa that night.

After getting medical reports from Apollo Hospital, Arumughaswamy is expected to interact with Dr Richard Beale from London and the experts from AIIMS who monitored the treatment given to the former chief minister.

After concluding investigation, Arumughaswamy will submit his report to the government within three months.

The Tamil Nadu government has a given a special office to Arumughaswamy at Kalas Mahal in the city.
