The Congress on Friday hit out at the Modi government for its “inconsistent” approach on relations with Pakistan and said it had ended up putting Kashmir and separatist Hurriyat Conference at the centre stage.
The Congress also charged the government with squandering away the very tangible gains achieved by the UPA government in ensuring that Pakistan was ostracised internationally for its support of terror activities in India.
“The government has achieved exactly the opposite of what it had set out to achieve. Focus has shifted from terror to Kashmir,” AICC spokesman Abhishek Manu Singhvi told reporters here.
The Modi government has been insisting that the National Security Advisers of India and Pakistan will only talk on terrorism when they meet on Monday. It has been insisting that the NSA-level talks should not be misunderstood as the resumption of composite dialogue, which has a wider ambit.
