Congress leaders across the country will seek Prime Minister Narendra Modi's resignation on November 8 for "destroying" the economy with demonetisation and "faulty" implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
The party on Monday decided to observe November 8, the first anniversary of demonetisation, as a Black Day with countrywide protests with the theme 'Bhugat Raha hai desh' (the country is suffering) and said it will not rest till "inherent flaws" in the GST were resolved.
Congress leaders will hit the streets in district and state headquarters to "mourn the death" of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 currency notes with various catchy slogans.
'Note nahin, PM Badlo (Change PM, not notes), Ek hi Bhool, Kamal ka phool (Only mistake, voting for the lotus), 'Modi-Made Disaster Maafi Maango, Istifa Do' were some of the slogans shortlisted for the protests.
'Kisan, Grihani, Mazdoor Vyapari, sab hue notebandi se laachar, Nahi Chahiye ab Modi Sarkar (Farmers, housewives, workers and traders, note ban has made them helpless, We don't want Modi government)', was another slogan discussed at the meeting of senior leaders convened by Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Monday.
Rahul had already termed demonetisation and GST as Modi-made disasters that had dealt twin blows to the economy.
