As Congress leaders protested the arrest of party leader Pawan Khera when he boarded a flight to Raipur, the BJP hit back saying that the Congress should not be under the "misconception that is above the law".
The party fielded national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia who said that the entire process is lawfully done. “Whatever is done is done lawfully. Congress leaders should not live under the misconception that they are above the law,” Bhatia told reporters at Delhi.

He said that by taking on Modi with “derogatory words”, the Congress is going to be counterproductive for the party. “PM Modi has the blessings of more than 140 crore Indians. The Congress, by abusing and disrespecting him, is digging a hole where they will further slide. People will teach the Congress a lesson,” Bhatia said.
A case was filed against Khera in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow and Assam’s Haflong for calling Modi, "Narendra Gautamdas Modi", in an apparent swipe at PM Modi’s alleged proximity to Gautam Adani. The BJP has said that Khera has insulted the PM, since the 'Damodardas' in his name ‘Narendar Damodardas Modi’ is the name of his father.
Bhatia said that the Congress is now playing the 'victim card' after insulting the Prime Minister and dragging his father into the debate. “Congress leaders flouted the law by starting a protest on the tarmac at Delhi airport, thereby endangering the lives of fellow passengers. People traveling on the flight were inconvenienced by the protests,” he said.
