The Congress on Tuesday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of dragging the Armed Forces into politics and moved the Election Commission for action against him.

The Congress found fault with Modi taking credit for action against the Army personnel involved in the accidental killing of two youth in Budgam in Jammu and Kashmir. “This is the wonder of the Modi government,” the prime minister had reportedly said addressing an election rallies in Samba and Srinagar on Monday.

“Bringing the Army into political controversy or in election campaign is highly objectionable and in violation of Model Code of Conduct,” the Congress said in a complaint against Modi to the Election Commission.

AICC Secretary K C Mittal also contended that Modi’s rallies in Samba and Srinagar were telecast live by television channels and reported by the print media, including places which went to polls on Tuesday.
