Targeting Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, the Congress on Wednesday demanded a Joint Parliamentary Committee investigation into the alleged irregularities in the functioning of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) during his tenure as its president.

Flashing copies of a report of an inquiry ordered by the Delhi government, senior Congress leaders alleged “gross financial irregularities” in the DDCA during Jaitley’s tenure between 1999 and 2013.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal claimed on Tuesday that the CBI had raided his Principal Secretary Rajender Kumar in connection with the DDCA inquiry report. Jaitley had dismissed Kejirwal’s claims as “absolute rubbish”.

“Congress demands an inquiry through a Joint Parliamentary Committee and resignation of Jaitley,” senior AICC spokesman Ajay Maken told reporters here in the presence of other party leaders like Mallikarjun Kharge, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Randeep Singh Surjewala.

Maken also targeted Kejriwal for not acting on the report submitted by a three-member committee last month.
