RT-PCR test made mandatory for patients before surgeries in Aurangabad

The district disaster management authority has decided to make the RT-PCR test forCovid-19 detection mandatory for patients before undergoing any surgery here in Maharashtra, an official said on Tuesday.

Hospital authorities in Aurangabad have also been asked to check the patient'sCovid-19 vaccination status, Collector Sunil Chavan said in a release, but did not specify any reason for these decisions which were taken after a meeting to review the pandemic situation here.

Mizoram logs 63 fresh Covid-19 cases

Mizoram on Tuesday reported 63 freshCovid-19 cases, 23 more than the previous day, taking the tally to 2,27,556, a health department official said.

TheCovid-19 death toll remained at 697 as no new fatality was reported, he said.

The single-day positivity rate increased to 10.96 per cent from 8.10 per cent the previous day, as the fresh cases were detected from 575 samples tested on Monday, he said.

66% adolescents in UP are fully vaccinated

Nearly 66 per cent of adolescents in Uttar Pradesh are now fully vaccinated againstCovidwhile 63 per cent of children in the 12-14 years age group have taken the first dose, said health officials on Tuesday.

Officials said that more than 31.5 crore doses of vaccine have been administered in the state. Of these, 58.52 lakh doses have been administered in the 12-14 years age group, while 2.28 crore doses have been given in the 15-17 years age group.
