Two more persons were tested positive for novel coronavirus in Ladakh union territory on Friday, taking the total number of cases to ten.

Commissioner Secretary Health and Ladakh UT spokesman, Rigzin Samphel confirmed that two more samples were tested positive for COVID-19. “After the reports of the two patients came positive, they were immediately shifted to an isolation ward in a hospital by health officials,” he told reporters.

Samphel said the test reports of 55 more patients, including 11 taken on Friday, were sent to a laboratory in Delhi.

With these two cases, the total number of persons infected by the virus has risen to ten. Those affected include an army soldier as well. The virus has reached the UT through the pilgrims who returned from Iran, the Union Home Ministry said on Thursday.

Earlier, on Monday, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary directed the administration to ensure that passengers in all flights coming from Ladakh were 100% quarantined, besides setting up of quarantine facility at Baltal Base Camp in Sonmarg, Kashmir to quarantine people entering into J&K from Ladakh by road.
