A local court has summoned the person who had filed a complaint against four authors for reading excerpts from Salman Rushdie’s banned book “Satanic Verses” at Jaipur Literature Festival held recently in capital city of Rajasthan.

Additional chief metropolitan magistrate will hear the statement of the complainant Mohammad Naimuddin.

The court took up the matter on Saturday and decided to examine its veracity and asked Naimudding—the complainant to be present on Monday for his statements.

Recently, Naimuddin had filed the complaint and demanded action against Hari Kunzru, Amitava Kumar, Jeet Thayil and Ruchir Joshi for reading parts from the book on January 20 to protest Rushdie’s cancellation of visit citing death threats.

Rushdie didn’t visit India for the festival.
