The Congress Working Committee (CWC), the highest decision making body of the party, will meet on Tuesday morning to discuss current political scenario where the UPA government led by Manmohan Sigh lost an ally and is being slammed by the opposition for its economic reforms.

“The CWC will discuss the current political situation. especially the recent decision on FDI and the exit of Trinamool Congress (TMC) from UPA,” a senior member of CWC said.
He also said the CWC will endorse government’s recent decisions on economic front and prepare future strategy as the TMC has moved out of the UPA reducing the strength of the Union government.

The TMC, having 19 Lok Sabha MPs, severed ties with the UPA protesting against the Union government’s decision to increase diesel prices, put a cap on subsidised LPG cylinders and allowing FDI in multi-brand retail.

However, the Congress is unfazed with the exit of the TMC as the Samajwadi Party, having 22 members and Bahujan Samaj Party with 21 MPs have extended outside support to the UPA.
