Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad’s (ABVP) vice president of the JNU unit Jatin Goraya resigned on Saturday, saying he was “tired” of the wing’s stand on the attacks against Dalits.

This makes Goraya the fourth member of the BJP’s student wing to resign this year over differences with the party ideology.

In February, the then ABVP JNU unit joint secretary Pradeep Narwal and two others had resigned, following clashes in the university campus over the February 9 incident, in which “anti-national slogans” were raised.

It is said Goraya was one of the students who had burnt pages from the ‘Manusmriti’ on the university campus, during an earlier protest against “anti-Dalit and anti-women” tenets of the ancient text.
