A civil contractor, his wife and daughter were found murdered in their flat's living room under mysterious circumstances on early Wednesday in Southwest Delhi.

Police said that the victims were stabbed to death by unknown assailants.

The couple's 18-year old son, Suraj, who was at home when the incident took place, also had a stab injury on his body.

The neighbours came to know about the incident, which took place at Kishangarh village in Vasant Kunj area, and informed the police at 5 am, after Suraj raised an alarm coming out in the flat's balcony.

The deceased were identified as Mithilesh Verma (45), from Uttar Pradesh's Kannauj district, his wife Siya (42) and their daughter Neha (16).

Referring to the locals' statements, police sources said that the flat's entrance was closed from the inside when the incident took place.

“We have preserved the crime scene and investigating the case from all possible angles,“ Ajay Choudhary, joint commissioner of police, told reporters.

“While the bodies of the deceased have been sent for a postmortem, a team of forensic experts have reached the spot to collect evidences,” a police officer said.

The footage of the CCTV, installed at the apartment, is being analysed.

“The couple's injured son is also being questioned for clues,” the officer said.
