Deve Gowda demands discussion on illegal mining in Karnataka

Raising the issue during zero hour, Gowda said that he has been seeking a special discussion in the House and a suitable time should be fixed for it.He said that he has been told that the discussion could not be taken up as the mining minister is unwell.

The JD-S leader said that if the mining minister was not well, the Parliamentary Affairs Minister could reply on his behalf. Two mine owners from Karnataka, who are Ministers in the BJP Government there and are known as Bellary brothers, have recently been in the eye of a storm over allegations of illegal mining.
