While upholding a decision to dismiss Khazia Mohammed Muzammil, a lower court judge appointed by the Karnataka High Court, a bench of Justices B S Chauhan and Swatanter Kumar said: “We further direct that all the high courts would ensure the police verification reports conducted in accordance with law…’’
The apex court on Wednesday said the Karnataka High Court on the administrative side also appeared to have dealt with the matter in a very casual manner. “It was expected of the government as well as the high court to have the character verification report before the appointment letter was issued.’’
The Supreme Court dismissed a petition filed by Muzammil, who had challenged the high court decision not to confirm his service after keeping him on probation for more than three years.
