Arunima Sinha, who created history by becoming the first female amputee from India to climb world's highest mountain peak Mount Everest, has decided to donate her body.
Arunima, who returned to her home district of Ambedkar Nagar a couple of days back, made the announcement at a function on Tuesday after meeting members of a body donation institution.
The amputee, who has been a national level volleyball player said that she wanted that after her death, her body could be of use for the mankind. “I want to focus on the development of the women and I shall do everything I can in this regard,” she said.
Arunima was felicitated by different organisations in the town.She also shared her experiences during climbing of the world's highest peak with her class mates and other students of the C B Singh Law College. She is a third year student of law course .Arunima lost her leg two years ago after being pushed out of a speeding train near Bareilly by unidentified men while resisting a robbery.
She was found lying in a pool of blood in the morning by the villagers and was admitted to the district hospital. One of her legs had to be amputated following infection.
Showing exemplary courage and determination, the amputee conquered the world's highest mountain peak Mt Everest a few days back becoming the first ever amputee from the country to have done so.
She had received training from Bachendri Pal, the first Indian woman to scale Mt Everest, at Uttarkashi in Uttarakhand.
