Prime Minister Narendra Modi, interacting with a diverse audience who joined him for the eighth annual edition of “Pariksha Pe Charcha” on Monday, advised students to maintain a balance between academics and life.

Speaking to students from across states and Union Territories, Modi said students should be allowed to explore their passions. “Exams are not the end of the road; they are merely a milestone in your journey. Your potential is not defined by a single exam but by your continuous efforts and passion for learning,” Modi said.

The event, held every year before the 10 and 12th board examinations, has become a hallmark of the PM’s efforts to connect with the youth to encourage a holistic approach to education.

This year, Modi’s interaction with students was held in a more informal setting instead of the traditional town hall format, where he answered a host of queries from students sharing tips for managing stress, including the importance of physical activity, meditation, time management, and the role of parents and teachers in shaping the future of students. The PM also shared his thoughts on the issue of leadership, which he felt is something that can’t be imposed on people. “To become a leader, it is very important to learn teamwork...patience and earning trust is very necessary,” he said.

Urging students to view exams as an opportunity to showcase their knowledge rather than a source of anxiety, Modi said, “Our society creates a tense atmosphere at home over low grades. You may also be under pressure, but prepare without worrying about it and keep challenging yourself.”
