Ten coaches of a Bihar-bound express train derailed in Nashik district of Maharashtra, affecting the movement of upcountry trains on Sunday.

The coaches of 11061 Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Jaynagar Express derailed between Lahavit and Devlali in Nashik at 1510 hrs, Central Railway (CR) officials stated.

An Accident Relief Train and Medical Van have rushed to the spot, their statement read.

While a dead body was found along the tracks, CR officials, however, asserted that it is not linked to the accident.

"No death is reported in the derailed train 11061. One body being shown in some news channels may be an outsider's body lying near track. The body must have been there before the derailment took place,” CR spokesperson Shivaji M Sutar tweeted.

Some coaches with passengers are being moved towards Nashik. Buses have also been arranged for the convenience of passengers.

The cause of the derailment is not yet known, however, a probe has been ordered to ascertain the reasons.

Passengers travelling on the train reported that it was speeding when the incident took place.

Several mail/express trains have been cancelled, short-terminated or diverted.
