He entered the luxurious residence, built by the late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy in 2005, at the “auspicious” time of 8.46 am.

With this, Rosaiah can be said to have finally asserted himself and moved out of the shadow of YSR. This brought the administration to a halt and Rosaiah did not want to do anything, including occupying the chief minister’s official residence, that would seem to denigrate YSR’s memory.

Besides, he also did not want to face the humiliation of having to vacate the house should the party high command replace him with someone more acceptable to the majority of the Cabinet. Once the party high command took a clear stand and rejected Jagan’s claims, Rosaiah decided to move in. But to make further sure he would face no more obstacles, he made several changes in the building in accordance with “vastu”.

YSR being a Christian apparently did not believe in “vastu” and occupied the house without any elaborate rituals.

Rosaiah’s loyalists pointed out that the delay in moving into the official residence was due to the floods in October and the struggle for Telangana statehood.
